Here it is, our penultimate wedding of 2017! What a year we’ve had in several countries and countless wonderful memories made. It can seem challenging to be a winter wedding photographer but we make the best of any opportunity to create beautiful photographs. Emma & Adam’s wedding took us to the ‘Garden of England’ for their winter wonderland wedding in Kent.

Wedding Morning at The Bull at Blenchley

Emma’s mum, the fabulous Debbie, owns possibly the coolest place we’ve been on any wedding morning. The Bull at Brencley is a Victorian English pub converted to self catering accommodation for up to 16 people. There is an awesome cafe next door too, The Little Bull. We witnessed the delivery of several delicious pastries, hot bacon sandwiches, avocado on toast with poached eggs and fresh coffee, right to the front door. Even though there is a beautiful kitchen with everything you could possibly need, it’s great option if you don’t want to cook. Also, The Little Bull have a traditional pizza oven, perfect for the night before a wedding!

Groom’s Prep in Sevenoaks

While hair and make-up was getting underway, Tobiah left Laura with the ladies and ventured off to see the gents. Adam and his groomsmen were getting ready at Adam’s parents’ home over in Sevenoaks. Here is where Tobiah met Adam and Emma’s adorable son, Harry.  He’s hard to miss in the photographs below, he’s the cute little red head! He is also the inspiration behind the wedding favours too, the customisable ginger-haired gingerbread men.

Once the groom and groomsmen were ready, they headed across to the wedding venue, The Barnyard in Sittingbourne. Meanwhile, Laura was capturing the final stages of Emma’s hair and make-up by Grace and after the all-important beans on toast, it was time for our lovely bride to get into her dress.  With her mum and bridesmaids lending a helping hand and a lot of little buttons, Emma was ready. We love the photos below of her beaming smiles as she was helped into to her dress and when her Dad came into the room, the excitement certainly went up a notch! After a few portraits in the bridal suite at the Bull at Brenchley, we made our way downstairs to set off for the ceremony.

Wedding Ceremony at The Barnyard, Sittingbourne

An outdoor ceremony in December sounds pretty crazy, right? However, one with a marquee cover, heating and views of orchards sounds much better. The guests had been enjoying drinks in the barn before it was time for them to move across into the Breezehouse for the wedding ceremony.

Emma and her dad, Charles, followed the bridesmaids and Harry into the Breezehouse where Adam and the rest of the guests were waiting. The ceremony was short and sweet, as the newly married Adam and Emma signed the register, Pippa and her team from Nova, handed out some confetti with a difference! The theme for this December wedding was “winter wonderland” and so some fake snow as confetti was very appropriate! Although, when there are 170 guests throwing it at you, it’s hard not to get some in your mouth and down your shirt collar (Adam can testify to this!)

The weather was less than perfect so we headed into the marquee for some portraits of our lovely couple before the rest of the family joined in.  Emma had rescued a very special dog when she lived over in Australia and it was so nice to have Milo there on the day to join in on the photographs too.

We loved working alongside Rob from Pretty in White at this winter wedding and his assistant Calvin. The team at Nova Wedding Planning had done a great job of fulfilling the winter wonderland brief. Especially as when we had arrived the day before and seen the marquee as it usually is, the difference was amazing! They had covered the entire marquee floor in fake snow to give it a magical look, it made a real impact and wowed the guests.

Dinner, Speeches, Dancing!

The wedding breakfast was provided by the wonderful in-house caterers, Zest and once this was enjoyed by everyone, it was time for the speeches. Heartfelt words from Emma’s parents, Charles and Debbie starting off the proceedings. Next we heard from Adam and finally, the best man, Matt aka Chewy!

We both focus on different groups of people during the speeches. Tobiah usually will focus on the speaker and the head table. Laura will weave between tables, careful not to disturb anyone or get in the way! This allows a great coverage of the guests and also some brilliant reactions to the speeches. You can certainly tell, particularly in the best man’s speech, who was involved in some of the stories being told by their faces!

With some time to relax before the dancing got underway, the bride and groom cut the cake and enjoying spending some time chatting with their friends and family. After the first dance, the guests joined our bride and groom on the dance floor, armed with more fake snow and covered them in it once again!

Adam and Emma had wanted to use some sparklers for photographs but the weather hadn’t made it possible. Thankfully, the rain stopped later in the evening so we took the opportunity to head outside. Pippa and her team handed the sparklers out and once they were all lit, Adam and Emma made their way through their guests and back into the marquee and on to the dance floor.

We had such a wonderful time with Adam and Emma, Harry and their families and friends. We hope you enjoy a few of our favourite winter wedding photographs below.
