This is the AMAZING Thornton Manor wedding of Andrew & Rachel. After meeting at a wedding a few years ago, they held their own wedding at Thornton Manor in the Lakeside Marquee after their ceremony at Holy Apostles & Martyrs’ Parish Church in Wallasey.
We had the privilege of working alongside Tom from Silk Wedding Films who produces stunning wedding films and is an all-round amazingly nice guy!
Our morning started in the Trainers Mews on the Thornton Manor estate in Thornton Hough on the Wirral. It was a lovely atmosphere in the the apartment were Rachel, her 6 bridesmaids and mum were getting ready together. We took to photographing the bridal details including Rachel’s beautifully beaded Ronald Joyce wedding dress. Andy, her soon-to-be husband scored major Brownie points with the ultimate wedding gift of Jimmy Choos and Swarovski jewellery for his bride to wear on their wedding day.
The getting ready part of the day is always one of our favourites but always passes so quickly! A bouquets and button holes delivery from Simon and Louise from Red Floral Architecture caused a wave of excitement and shrieks from Rachel and her bridesmaids! Red Floral ALWAYS create nothing short of perfection. Rachel’s bridal bouquet was filled with white orchids, peonies and other neutral blooms and the bridesmaids had bouquets of soft pink peonies (with the most heavenly scent!) and a little fairy wand for Sophia!
Once the ladies were ready to go it was time to head to the church in Wallasey for the ceremony.
Here, we caught up with a very excited groom and over a hundred guests waiting for Rachel’s arrival. The weather was a little on the wet side but after the ceremony it thankfully had dried up for Rachel & Andy to exit the church as husband and wife!
Once we’d arrived back at Thornton Manor, the weather had decided to switch back to drizzle which then turned into full on rain!
Andy & Rachel went on undeterred but with the help of the lovely Richard (from Chester Wedding Cars) providing an umbrella and Laura creating a cape with a shower curtain, they managed to stay dry!
The newlyweds made their entrance to the Lakeside Marquee which had been elegantly decorated by Red Floral with an oriental garden theme.
The rain thankfully stopped once again and the guests spilled of the marquee to enjoy the unique views over the lake whilst enjoying the champagne and canapés.
After a few family photographs, we took the new Mr & Mrs, along with their bridal party, for a few more creative photographs in the grounds of Thornton Manor.
Soon it was time for all of the guests to be seated for the wedding breakfast. This was catered by wedding industry superstars, Barretts Events & Catering. Special thanks to Heather for looking after us so well and for the yummy food!
Once everybody’s glasses had been charged, it was time for the speeches. Andy’s speech especially was very moving and everyone in the room was in awe of the lovely words he managed to compose so well.
Andy & Rachel had a choreographed first dance taught by Jamie McLachlan which was awesome! It was extra special as the ‘secret’ dance floor had been set up behind a giant curtain so it was a huge surprise for the guests when the curtain lifted to reveal the bride and groom in the centre of the dance floor as they began their first dance!
Jukebox Band played their first dance and kicked off the evening in style with the rest of their first set.
As the guests enjoyed the street food style evening food provided by Pizza Principles, it was time for us to say our goodbyes.
