Although our only previous meeting with Sona and Tom had been over Skype, with both of us sat in our respective homes with cups of tea, from the minute we arrived at Thornbridge Hall and saw our excited bride it felt like we’d known her forever.

The morning preparations were well underway when we arrived in the Jaipur suite where the girls were getting ready. The lovely Danielle Grace Williams was on hair and make-up (and provided a great playlist for the morning on her phone!) We loved the opulent, jewel coloured decor and especially the giant Vishnu painting was significant and special to Sona’s family as Hindus so that was important to feature in the photos.

The boys arrived at Thornbridge Hall early afternoon so Tobiah headed over to see them and the guests that had started to arrive. The weather was glorious so after a few photos outside it was in to the Great Hall to wait for the bride to arrive.

Once Sona was in her beautiful Kula Tsurdiu wedding dress and final touches were done, it was time to go and get married!

A Wedding Ceremony in the Great Hall

Some close friends (very talented close friends) played piano and sang as following the bridesmaids, Sona and her proud dad made their way down the staircase to walk up the aisle.

The ceremony featured a very emotional and hart felt reading from Tom’s dad and personal vows from the bride and groom. Once the rings were exchanged and register signed the register, it was out on to the lawns. While Sona sand Tom had a few moments alone, the guests collected their champagne and confetti ready to welcome the newlyweds!

Confetti, Champagne & Congratulations

Naturally, all of the guests were keen to offer their congratulations, give Tom and Sona lots of hugs and well wishes so we weaved through the crowd capturing all of those unscripted moments which is always our favourite part of the day.

The clouds were starting to build a little so we decided it was the best time to steal Tom and Sona away for some relaxed photographs in the stunning grounds of Thornbridge Hall. The drizzle held just enough for time for a few family portraits in the gardens and for a photo of the guests on the lawn before the wedding breakfast.

The Carriage House is such a pretty setting for a wedding but even more so when the talents of Swallows and Damsons have been unleashed there! With a palette of soft blues set against deep fuchsia pink peonies for the centre pieces and candles on the tables, the setting looked perfect. Guests were seated and enjoyed delicious food (as did we) before the speeches began.

Sona’s dad, the groom and best man all delivers great speeches and very soon after the evening guests arrived for the night’s festivities!

Time to cut the cake! Sona & Tom’s wedding cake had been made by a friend (another very talented friends of theirs) featuring sugar paste succulents which looked amazing. Once it had been carried away, the dance floor was now clear for the first dance to commence.

After the guests joined in, the dance floor stayed occupied, particularly by Sona’s uncle who had the most amazing dance moves! The rain had stopped so lots of the guests that had arrived later in the day explored the surroundings outside and took their drinks onto the patio overlooking the gardens in the dusky evening light.

It was her we said goodbye to our awesome bride and groom as they were enjoying chatting with their friends in between revisiting the dance floor.

Thank you for choosing us to photograph your Thornbridge Hall wedding. Also, a huge thanks to David and all of the team at Thornbridge who looked after us so well, as they always do.
