This is the fabulous wedding of Charlotte & Dan! Two of THE happiest people we have ever had the privilege to photograph. It rained pretty much non stop at their Thornbridge Hall wedding but they didn’t let it stop them from having the time of their lives!
On the morning of the wedding, Charlotte was getting ready just outside of Bakewell with her bridesmaids and family. Meanwhile, Dan and the gents were staying a little further up the road, Tobiah headed off to capture the shenanigans there after shooting the details with Laura. Two of the excellent team from Jenn Edwards & Co were responsible for hair and make-up and everyone looked wonderful! Jenn and Natty made everyone feel at ease and were lovely to have around during the morning of the wedding.
Over at the boys’ cottage there was a lot of activity! Mostly revolving around getting ties done properly – it’s typical isn’t it how something you’ve done a thousand times suddenly becomes really difficult?! But after a little perseverance the groomsmen and Dan’s dad all looked very dapper, naturally only being outshone by the groom himself!
Back over at Castle Cliffe where the bride was getting ready, it was time for Charlotte to get into her wedding dress. We loved the delicate lace detail on this Morilee wedding gown and as you can see, Charlotte looked amazingly beautiful wearing it!
After Charlotte’s aunty, who was also bus monitor, had left with the remaining guests, the bridesmaids and bride left for the church.
Dan was ready and waiting at the church in Chesterfield. We love capturing the mix of emotions and expressions just before the ceremony is due to begin. The anticipation and excitement build with each second! The ceremony included readings from close friends and after their first kiss as husband and wife, Charlotte and Dan headed up to the alter to sign the wedding register.
Once Charlotte & Dan exited the church, their guests were keen to greet them with plenty of hugs and kisses! This time is one of our favourite parts of the wedding day. For us, it means we can capture all of the unscripted exchanges of congratulations, a squeeze of the hand or the look on Grandad’s face! We love it.
After the confetti had been thrown and the newlyweds waved off by their guests, we followed the bride and groom up to the moors overlooking the Derbyshire countryside. Charlotte grew up in Derbyshire and had suggested going up into the hills for a few photographs. “Definitely!” we said, presuming this was a weather-dependant idea. Nope, in the pouring rain, Charlotte and Dan traipsed across the field under the most threatening sky and looked so happy and in love with each other, we honestly didn’t think the weather was something they had even noticed much. With some amazing, atmospheric shots in the bag, we headed to Thornbridge Hall.
Guests were waiting to greet the new Mr & Mrs T at Thornbridge Hall and enjoying the excellent hospitality synonymous with this wonderful venue. Michael at Thornbridge Hall always makes us feel so welcome and the team here take such great care of everyone, we love coming here for Thornbridge Hall weddings.
Despite the persistent drizzle, we picked the best spot for some relaxed family photographs and stole Charlotte and Dan away for a few portraits afterwards. The weather wasn’t too much of a concern for our bride and groom (though Laura did manage to persuade Charlotte to take her coat at least while we moved between one area to the next!) They loved every minute of their Thornbridge Hall wedding and we loved being with them. Their infectious smiles were firmly on their faces all day and they genuinely enjoyed themselves without any stresses along the way.
After dinner and speeches, the dance floor was packed with all ages, all dancing styles and abilities! Here we said goodbye to two of the nicest people EVER and were actually a little bit sad to leave. Thank you Charlotte & Dan for choosing us to be your Thornbridge Hall wedding photographers. Enjoy the photos!
