This fabulous wedding day was a bit of a mixture in some ways. It was sunny then it was raining, there was laugher then there were tears but one things was consistent; everyone present had THE best time, including us!
Our day began ahead of schedule as Helen and her bridesmaids were en route to Thornbridge Hall. We took to photographing this stunning venue which was bathed in sunshine and also caught up with Euan and his groomsmen who were finishing off little jobs and having a wander through the lovely grounds surrounding the house.
We were so pleased too to get a chance to see the lovely, amazingly talented Anna from Swallows and Damsons at work! She was filling the ginormous urn at the front of the Carriage House with hundreds of flowers when we arrived. It looked awesome!
Once the girls arrived, getting ready commenced with the assistance of the super lovely Vicky Adamson doing hair and make-up beautifully.
After a little while, Tobiah headed over to see the boys who were staying at the Thornbridge Manor cottages.
Once the groom and groomsmen were ready and after a few photographs, they made their way to the Great Hall ahead of the ceremony. We love the photo of groomsman, Karl, walking along with a bottle of Woodford Reserve whiskey in hand! A sure wedding day essential to help calm any nerves!
The time for the ceremony was approaching fast and once the bridesmaids had slipped into their gorgeous J Crew dresses, it was time to get the bride dressed! Helen had chosen a simple yet elegant Sassi Holford gown, which had been hand finished and altered by the designer herself. Needless to say, it was absolutely perfect. Helen’s look was completed with a Sassi Holford veil and delicate Debbie Carlisle head dress.
The time for Helen and Euan to get married arrived! Once the bridesmaids had made their way down the grand staircase, it was time for Helen and her lovely dad to do the same.
The ceremony was beautiful and included a reading by Euan’s mum and also music from a harpist and vocalist.
Once the ceremony was over, the guests collected a glass of champagne, some confetti and spilled out into the gardens of the hall. The newlyweds then made their entrance and were showered in petals by all of their family and friends. During the drinks reception we like to leave the bride and groom to catch up with their friends and family and this allows us to capture people as they are – laughing, hugging, chatting with friends. This is one of our favourite parts of the day!
After some family photographs it was time for the guests to head across to the Carriage House for the wedding breakfast. The room had been filled with flowers by Swallows and Damsons and the delicate paper lanterns made such an impact that had been provided by Your Wedding Angel.
After a delicious dinner, by superstar caterers, Larkspur St James, and 3 awesome speeches we took Helen & Euan outside for a few portraits.
The groom said to us whilst we were taking these portraits, “it’s a strange feeling, you’re here on our wedding day but we may never see you again.” It was a statement that we often find to be true but have never really thought about before. Being chosen as somebody’s wedding photographer is a privilege that we never take for granted. We share some of the most intimate and precious moments on the best day of a person’s life and then that’s it. Sometimes, our paths never cross. That’s why we strive to be the best we can be at any wedding. Helpful, considerate, sensitive…no matter how many weddings we photograph, we view each wedding day is the single most important day for two amazing people and feel honoured they have chosen us to be there. It matters to us that we leave a good impression with everyone, not just the bride and groom. We’d like to think that guests can see that we are two people who take our job seriously but remember we did it with a smile on our faces!
Back inside the carriage house, it was time to cut the cake! Dancing followed as the awesome Under The Covers band filled the dance floor and played on into the night.
Thank you so much for choosing us to be your Thornbridge Hall wedding photographers. It was an absolute privilege to be there.
Special thank you to Michael at Thornbridge who always looks after us so, so well and is one of the nicest guys, it’s always a pleasure!
