This is the amazing wedding of Jen & James who got married at the wonderful Owen House Wedding Barn. It was our first experience of being Owen House Wedding Barn wedding photographers and we LOVED it. Thank you to Dan for making us feel so welcome, we hope to be back very soon!
We began our day at Jen’s mum’s beautiful home in Alderley Edge. A delightful cottage that has the most spectacular views and stunning decor, we didn’t want to leave! It was so lovely to work alongside some of the very best wedding suppliers, such as the AMAZING Flossy & Leigh girls and super-lovely Pete & Laura, aka Lawson Films. Before long, shrieks of excitement echoed around the cottage as the gorgeous bouquets from the talented bunch at The Potting Shed in Alderley Edge filled with very seasonal blooms in the prettiest colours.
Tobiah had headed across to The Roebuck in Mobberly to catch up with our handsome groom and his groomsmen enjoying a pint and a few relaxed photographs before the ceremony. Laura had stayed with the ladies and as they sipped on champagne, and were dipping into a box of allegedly the best muesli from M&S, the time melted away and it was soon time to get ready! Jen’s stunning and very delicate wedding dress was one of our favourites! She had chosen an Ian Stuart gown and matching veil with such beautiful detailing, matching perfectly her Badgley Mischka wedding shoes and pretty diamond earrings. The bridesmaids all looked so elegant in their Dessy gowns and Trish, Jen’s mum, wore the most gorgeous outfit too! These ladies set the bar pretty high but as you’ll see below, the boys looked pretty suave too. We especially loved James’s blue velvet jacket!
At the Unitarian Chapel in Hale Barns, as guests chatted and gathered into the unique ceremony space, Jen had arrived. Walking in with her very proud dad, she met her very-soon-to-be husband in the middle of the aisle and the ceremony began. Jen’s sister read a lovely excerpt by Charlotte Bronte and after the vows and promises had been made, the new Mr & Mrs sealed their wedding ceremony with a kiss and exited the church as husband and wife. After lots and lots of hugs and kisses, it was time to head to the super-cool Owen House wedding barn for the reception.
Renovated in 2013, Owen House Wedding Barn is in the heart of the Cheshire countryside and has quickly become a very popular venue choice for brides and grooms looking for something a little different. The family have done the most unbelievably good job of keeping the character of the building. It is rustic and charming but with the right measure of elegance too.
As the guests made the most of the ‘Pimp Your Prosecco’ station, the sweet sounds of the hugely talented boys that are Twisted Tubes filled the air! If you’re looking for a band that are a little different then look no further. After a little while, we stole Jen & James away for a few natural and relaxed portraits amongst the hay bails and rustic space at the back of the barn.
The main barn had been decorated by the talented team at The Potting Shed and the divine wedding cake from Bloomsbury Wedding Cakes was rightfully pride of place in the centre of the room. Once the guests were seated, it was time for them to get back on their feet for the arrival of Jen & James! Whooping, cheering, clapping and whistling carried through the barn, well after Jen & James had arrived at their seats! As the dinner got underway, the sun began to get on what had been such a wonderful day. But it wasn’t over yet! It was time for the speeches. Heartfelt words from our thoughtful and caring bride about her friends, her new husband and her mum put a little lump in everyone’s throat. One of the standout things that she said was quoting one her friend’s, who at his own wedding, said that he knew he really loved her when home goes from being a place to being wherever she is. Jen ended her speech by simply saying “James, my love, you are my home”.
After the newlyweds had enjoyed their first dance has husband and wife, to none other than Drake (!), the evening party commenced. With the cigar and whiskey station being frequented by most of the gentlemen in attendance and the one-of-a-kind evening entertainment set-up – it was clear everyone was having an amazing time as we said our goodbyes. As we left, the unique entertainment of Ellie Sax and her multicoloured light-up saxophone was being enjoyed by all, as well as the equally colourful bongos!
A HUGE thank you to Jen & James for choosing us to be your Owen House Wedding Barn wedding photographers, we hope you enjoy the photos!
