One afternoon in June, we had met up with Jen & Kieron at the Bear’s Paw in Warmingham, Cheshire, a few weeks prior to the wedding to discuss their plans for the day and pick out some areas for photographs. We could’ve spent much longer than the time we did with these two as they are so easy to get along with. Jen is a teacher and Kieron is a supremely talented graphic designer (he was recently featured on Buzzfeed!) With both of their creative minds set to planning a wedding, needless to say, what they had planned for their big day sounded fantastic.
From what we had heard when we met them for a pre-wedding meet up, if there was ever a day were the sun NEEDED to shine, it was at Jen & Kieron’s wedding day! A laid-back, garden party marquee wedding with lots of outdoor elements: games, a photobooth and cocktail shack. Also, if you’ve got a Caribbean fusion wedding and are serving up mojitos and Red Stripe, then a heavy dose of sunshine is a must! So, you can imagine our delight when we arrived on the morning of their wedding and the sun was shining!
We started at the Bear’s Paw in Warmingham on the wedding day where Jen, her maids and lovely mum were getting ready.
We took to photographing all of Jen’s pretty details that she had chosen for or been gifted with on her wedding day. Along with her show-stopper, intricately beaded Justin Alexander dress, Jen also had most perfect Elizabeth Dickens veil and personal touches such as a hand-made charm pin from one of her best friends, Elle, and a stunning antique French gold watch from her uncle to wear.
Tobiah went off to see the boys while Laura stayed with the girls. Hair was expertly done by bridesmaid Elle and make-up by Jen’s future sister-in-law, Nichola Alexandra. The bridesmaids dresses were an amazing design from Chi Chi London that went along with the floral and botanical theme. Kieron and the guys were staying locally at a friend’s house and soon, like most boys, were ready fairly quickly and headed down to the pub opposite the church for a nerve-settling pint before the ceremony. As the pub in question just happened to be the Bear’s Paw, Jen and the girls stayed upstairs and fought the urge to peek out of the windows as the boys and lots of guests arrived to join Kieron for a drink before heading across the road to St. Leonard’s.
It was soon time for Jen to step into her beautiful wedding dress and for her brother, James, to collect his big sis to take her across to the church to go and get married!
The ceremony featured lovely readings and once their nuptials had been sealed with a kiss, the new Mr & Mrs exited the church followed by all of their family and friends. Kieron’s brothers dutifully handed out little cones of confetti for Jen and Kieron to be showered with before heading to the reception. Kieron had planned a few little surprises throughout the day but one of the best ones was the wedding car. Jen was expecting to quite literally hitch a ride with one of their friends who had a “nice-ish car” but there was no need! A friend of the groom had managed to arrange borrowing a rather nice Bentley to ensure the newlyweds could leave from the church in style!
Once we arrived at Coppenhall House Farm, you could definitely see how all of the hours and hours of preparation had been spent! Salvaged reels had been turned into tables, hay bails had been brought in from the fields for seating, a shed had been transformed into a cocktail shack, a bench decorated for a photobooth…the list goes on! As guests enjoyed the delights from a vintage ice-cream van and cocktails, the sun remained shining and everybody was entertained by the very talented Michaela Wylde.
Soon it was time for the guests to be seated in the marquee that had been lovingly decorated by some of our couple’s nearest and dearest eh day before. It looked amazing. We especially loved the milk churns filled with fresh flowers either side of the doors.
Jen & Kieron entered the marquee to ‘Number 1’ by N-Dubz which has to definitely be the most original song choice but everyone loved it!
Once the picnic wedding breakfast was over it was time for the speeches. Laughter and tears are always a feature of most speeches but abject horror isn’t. Not until your best men decide to drop the bombshell to your mum that the mysterious damage to her car was actually caused by her new daughter-in-law a few months ago! I think she has been forgiven though so it’s all good!
After dancing and some proper Caribbean food, we said our goodbyes. Thank you so much to Jen, Kieron and their wonderful families for having us along for this spectacular Cheshire marquee wedding! We loved every minute.
