We first met Lucy and her lovely mum, Joy, back when we lived in our little cottage about 5 minutes walk from their family home in Davenham, Cheshire. Small world indeed! Fast forward to a year or so later, and we arrive at Lucy and Charles’ wedding day.
It was gloriously sunny as we arrived at Laburnum Cottage which is always a good start! We love the bustle of a wedding morning – Champagne popping, the brother-of-the-bride persuading someone to polish his shoes, bridesmaids’ dresses being meticulously steamed and hung so as not to crease, the father of the bride practising his speech under his breath and tying ribbons on the car – it’s such a fun part of the day.
The girls were at Ernest Ashley in Davenham village, where they were having their hair done, before going home, to have their make-up done by the super lovely Lucinka Hodnett. We captured Lucy, her bridesmaids and mum all getting ready together for the wedding.
Charles, the groomsmen and his family were staying a short drive away in some really cool lodges in the woods at The Hollies farm so Tobiah went off to see them while Laura stayed with the ladies (and John!)
The ceremony took place in Northwich town centre at St. Wilfred’s church. Afterwards, some super cool buses took the guests to the wedding reception. The wedding reception venue – a farm in cheshire was non-existent a few weeks before! Yet after a little landscaping, a fabulous marquee and drinks pavilion later, it was now the perfect setting for Lucy & Charles’ country marquee wedding.
After drinks and canapés, we took some family portrait photographs before taking a few of the newlyweds before dinner. Then came the wedding breakfast and speeches. As the sun went down, the cute wheelbarrow of blankets (kindly provided by the lovely Amanda at Willow Green) came in handy for guests sat out on the veranda enjoying their drinks and chatting.
There was also a lovely view over the surrounding fields – perfect! The evening entertainment was in full swing as we said our goodbyes after capturing guests dancing away on the packed-out dance floor!
Thank you so much to Lucy and Charles and their families for having us to be a part of their amazing country marquee wedding.
