Where do we start?! This is the wedding of Benji and Shadee who married at the stunning Cheshire wedding venue, Colshaw Hall in July.
To start the day, we had a wander round the beautiful grounds to choose a few areas for photographs later. The sun was shining then and continued to all day enhancing the already perfect setting of Colshaw Hall and its grounds.
Upstairs in the bridal suite, Shadee and the ladies closest to her were getting ready together. Here we saw the talents of the ladies from David Anthony hairdressing and the lovely Sam from The Glam Box. Sam runs the most amazing ‘Get The Look’ evenings at her Wilmslow salon and provides a wide range of beauty treatments too, we can’t recommend her enough!
Tobiah headed over to catch up with Benji and his dad across the landing while Laura stayed with the girls. The bride’s best friend had flown in from New York to be by her side on her wedding day and along with Shadee’s sister Donya, who wore the most amazing BCBGMAXAZRIA dress and cobalt blue Valentino rock stud shoes, kept the bride calm and topped up with a little champagne in the run up to the ceremony.
It was soon time for the beautiful Shadee to get into her equally beautiful wedding dress. Shadee told us that she had originally tried on her Monique Lhuillier wedding dress at Browns in London and instantly fell in love! We can see why! With the help of her dazzling mum, Shadee was soon in her dress and took everybody’s breath away. This was especially true in the case of Shadee’s very proud father as the photographs show.
The time for the ceremony was upon us and so we wandered across from the main house to The Stables for the ceremony.
Although the bride and groom belong to different cultures, their ceremony unified both sides in a very special and totally unique way. Their ceremony was split into three segments. First, the civil ceremony, then a Jewish blessing and finally an Iranian or Baha’i ceremony.
Each part featured different members of the couple’s family and closest friends and the sentiments expressed and traditions included made Shadee & Benji’s wedding ceremony one of our most memorable.
Exiting to some awesome Iranian music, the new Mr & Mrs danced out of The Stables into the sunshine were they’re guested showered them with confetti.
The drinks reception took place on the lawns at the rear of the magnificent Peel Suite at Colshaw Hall. The champagne flowed and guests enjoyed delicious canapés provided by the industry’s finest, Barretts Event Catering.
After some group photographs and a little more champagne, we stole the newly married Shadee and Benji away from the walled garden for a few relaxed portraits in and around the grounds of Colshaw.
Once the guests had been seated in the Peel Suite, Shadee and Benji made their entrance to their wedding breakfast as husband and wife. It was then time for Shadee’s father to start off the speeches before the starters were served.
Shadee had mentioned to us when we were talking over the wedding plans before the big day that there would be “dancing between courses”. In our mind (and very wrongly!) we presumed that this would nothing too energetic, just a little swaying or a few minutes on the dance floor before the next course arrived. Boy, were we wrong! The photographs of guests dancing you see here were taken during the wedding breakfast! Practically everyone was on their feet, jumping up and and down and singing along. I guess this is a testament to what a fun-loving crowd of people Shadee and Benji had around them on their wedding day and also to the talents of the most unbelievably talented band they had chosen for their entertainment. This 10 piece band, called The White Keys (aka Soul Education) had travelled up to Cheshire from London and blew everyone away with the level of talent and charisma each member of this band had. The kept the dance floor full right until the end of the night, if you’re look for a band to achieve this at your wedding then look no further.
After more food and yes, more dancing, it was the turn of the best men to deliver their speech. We love to capture the mixture of reactions that only a best man speech can offer! Laughter, cringing, knuckle biting “did he just say that?!” moments! Benji’s boys did him proud though and it was finally time for the man of the moment, the groom to give the final speech. We feel very privileged, especially as relative strangers, to be there to witness and capture people speaking about those whom they love the most and bear their soul a little about the highs and lows in their lives. Benji said such lovely things about his parents, his friends and most of all, his gorgeous new wife, Shadee.
After his speech, Benji invited Shadee to the dance floor for their first dance. Needless to say, it wasn’t long until the rest of the guests joined them for yet more dancing!
As the room was turned around for the rest of the evening reception, Shadee and Benji cut their amazing wedding cake which had been lovingly made by the bride’s good friend, Laura.
The dance floor was filled from the moment the Peel Suite was ready once again and remained that way until we said our goodbyes some time after midnight!
