It’s always so lovely to hear from our couples when they first see their wedding photographs – “We don’t know where to start. We just watched the movie clip you sent and I burst into tears with happiness. We are beyond over the moon and can not thank you enough for all your work. The pictures are AMAZING can’t wipe the smiles off our faces. We have just landed in Dubai and will be back in Australia Sunday evening…Thank you so very much”
It was our first visit to one of the two Laura Ashley hotels in the UK for Dan & Chelsea’s wedding and we loved it! With unrivalled views of Windermere in the Lake District and iconic design and comforts inside by Laura Ashley, it was the perfect setting for a wedding.
Dan & Chelsea met through their love of water skiing on the other side of the world in Australia. An English groom and Australian bride chose to travel with some of their dearest family and friends from their home in Australia to marry in England in one of the most beautiful parts of the country.
We arrived nice and early to scout out the best area for photographs before we began with the girls. When we did arrive, the bridesmaids were all wearing cute floral robes and keep the bride (and us!) thoroughly entertained, especially Lauren! We loved working alongside Helen of Definitions Mobile Beauty on make-up and Gareth from Aqua The Salon who was responsible for making the girls’ hair extra gorgeous.
Tobiah headed over to photograph Dan and the groomsmen across the hotel getting ready after a little while and left Laura with the ladies.
With the time melting away and excitement building, in no time at all it was time for Chelsea to get into her wedding dress! With the help of her lovely mum and maids, it was just left for a few final touches before Dad came to escort his daughter to the church.
Chelsea and Dan had chosen to get married in the beautiful Lake District town of Kendal. A vintage London bus took the guests to the ceremony and Chelsea arrived in style too, her and her dad arrived by horse drawn carriage (and drew quite a crowd from people in the town!)
Dan and his groomsmen were keenly waiting for the ceremony to begin and once guests were seated, it was time for the girls and Chelsea and her proud dad to make their entrance.
After “I do”s and readings it was time to sign the register. An amazing rendition of Hallelujah was sang by Lauren as Chelsea and Dan signed along with their witnesses before the ceremony concluded.
The new Mr & Mrs walked up the aisle together and after waiting for their guests to leave ahead of them, they exited the church to a shower of confetti through a water ski guard of honour!
After many hugs and kisses, Dan and Chelsea left the church in the carriage and we followed them in the car to head to a rural spot for some photos of the two of them in the iconic Lakeland countryside.
We arrived back at the Laura Ashley hotel just as the drinks reception was getting underway and guests were enjoying the champagne and canapés. As usual, we left our couple to enjoy this time with their family and friends and to relax a little after the ceremony before we started the group photos.
There are lots of picturesque areas and opportunities for photographs at The Belsfield but we chose somewhere close to the drinks reception that was easy for the guests but with a pretty backdrop too.
Further down into the gardens, we stole Dan and Chelsea for a few relaxed portraits of them together before it was time to go back into the hotel for the wedding breakfast.
Once the guests were seated, grand toastmaster Sam, aka the groom’s cousin, took to the floor! He did an excellent job and seemed to be enjoying himself in his role for the day!
There were speeches from Chelsea’s dad, husband, her best friend and Dan’s brother and best man before it was time to cut the cake.
The sun was starting to set when we took a stroll with Dan & Chelsea to the shores of Lake Windermere. We had left venturing down to the lake until later in the evening as the light was so soft and the subtle colours in the sky made it extra pretty.
Dan & Chelsea were very adventurous and even went for a little paddle in the cold waters before we headed back up to the venue for the dancing to begin.
Chelsea and her dad shared a lovely dance together as well as her and Dan before the band kicked off the evening reception and the rest of the guests hit the dance floor!
We loved spending time with these two and their families and friends. Also it was awesome to catch up with and work alongside Lenik Media once again.
Enjoy the photos!
