This is the wonderful wedding of Becky & Johnny at Thornton Manor.
Although I’m pretty sure I mention this in EVERY other wedding blog post, we got married at this stunning venue ourselves in 2011 and so each time we come back, we love memories it brings back. To be here while another couple are making their memories too makes it extra special.
When we arrived at Thornton Manor, Becky and her entourage of best girls were getting ready in one of the nearby cottages before making their way across to finish getting ready in the Lady Lever bedroom in the Manor house. We were in love with the girls matching and personalised pyjamas and infectious laughter! It was so lovely to work alongside the dream team at Sarah Meredith Make-Up & Hair Styling, totally professional and they did such a great job.
It was soon time for Tobiah to head over and see the boys who were staying in one of the cottages on the grounds. It was all very civilised with Johnny and his groomsmen enjoying a glass on champagne before heading over to the house for the ceremony. Laura stayed with the girls and the time had come for Becky to get into her wedding dress. She had chosen a timeless gown by Pronovias with a long, soft veil to complete her look. The girls wore a mixed palette of pink and blue. Becky’s sisters and Maids of Honour, Hannah and Sarah, wore petal pink and the bridesmaids in blue. With the finishing touch of their pretty bouquets from Sweetpea & Thyme, the bridesmaids and Becky made their way down the staircase for the ceremony.
Each and every wedding ceremony is special and unique but this one had another extra special element. After the legalities, Becky’s adorable grandfather conducted another blessing ceremony for his granddaughter and her brand new husband. It was beautiful and so, so precious.
Once the new Mr & Mrs walked up the aisle together, the guests filtered out onto the tree lined path that leads from the ceremony room ready to welcome them with confetti. The drinks reception was in full flow with the awesome band providing the soundtrack and Barretts Event Caterers the canapés as we took the family away for a few formal photographs outside before a few more relaxed photographs with the bridal party. Dodging a little bit of rain, we took shelter in under the trees around the back of the house before heading back in for the wedding breakfast.
Making their entrance to the iconic Music Room to a Stevie Wonder classic, the newlyweds were met with cheers, whistles, claps and a lot of dancing guests as they made their way to the head table! The wedding breakfast was then served and once everyone had enjoyed their meal and had a full glass of fizz, it was time for the speeches to begin.
The horror and anticipation of seeing a projector screen set up is always a tense moment for the groom! But the best men, father of the bride, groom and bride all did themselves proud. Usually at the end of the speeches, the guests may sit around their tables or slowly make their way out into the gardens for the room to be turned around for the evening reception. Not today! Becky & Johnny hired a full brass band to come into the Music Room at the end of the speeches to lead all of the guests outside! It was so good and meant that everyone could enjoy the outdoor games and more music before the party.
Becky & Johnny took to the dance floor for their first dance as husband and wife before they were joined by their friends and family to dance into the night!
We loved every minute of this Thornton Manor wedding and would like to thank the amazing team at Thornton Manor for looking after us as well as Michelle and the Barretts team.
We hope you enjoy the photos.
